Nursing Services at Wesley Schools
Wesley K-8 and Wesley High School provide nursing/health care services to all students. Each building is staffed with two Registered Nurses who provide both school health and partial hospital program-level services to students enrolled in either of the programs. These services and activities can include:
•Assessment of each child entering the program
•Obtaining needed medication orders from prescribers (within or outside of Wesley Schools)
•Assess effectiveness, tolerability/side effects of medications taken by the student
•Participation in treatment team
•Obtain required prior authorizations for medications prescribed by Wesley physicians
•Participation in field trips/sporting events where students require medications or have serious medical conditions
•Provide case management services by collaborating with students, parents, educators, staff members and outside treatment providers in order to quality health care
•Monitoring of immunization requirements
•Coordinate/assist with state-required school health care screenings
•Following any IEP interventions as required for positive health/manage any chronic health conditions in the school setting
•Assess and treat acute illness and injuries
•Provide emergency care
•Serve as a resource to staff, administration, and students
•Assist students to make positive lifestyle choices
•Participate in school programming development which promotes positive health and well-being
