Sports & Activities at Wesley K–8
About the Program
Our K-8 Sports program is coordinated with the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Therapeutic League (WPITL). The program’s mission is to provide participation in flag football, basketball, kickball and cheerleading in order for students to learn teamwork, fair play, and personal enjoyment. Rather than a focus on winning and losing, the focus is placed on sportsmanship.
Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade are eligible for participation. All events take place during the school day so after-school hours transportation is not required. We want our students to attend every event in order to experience community involvement and to interact with students their own age to improve social skills.
Sports Class
A sportsmanship class is mandatory for any students who want to participate in the athletic program. Topics include sportsmanship, teamwork, positive athletes, concussion and sports rules. We offer one class per sport/season.
